About
I’ve been collecting orchids since December 2007. I bought a Phalaenopsis from Woolworths @ Canal Walk in Cape Town for a family member, and then decided I wanted one. Well, it all went crazy after that. The first couple Phalaenopsis died. Figured out the problem was with the media and from that point on I just repotted almost every orchid once I arrived home with it so I’d at least have an idea of what the roots looked like and general health of the plant. In doing this I’d also be using the same media so watering would be simplified. I’ve lost very few plants since those first couple of weeks.
In January 2008 I joined the Cape Orchid Society (COS), thereby being exposed to a much larger variety of orchids that are out there, and being introduced to a number of very knowledgeable people.
I’ve only now, in June 2009, figured out that a blog would be the best way for me to keep track of what’s happening with my plants, and hopefully I can share some information this way which may help others.
